I was wondering if disclosure is helpful or harmful when entering University/College.
At first glance it would seem to open up a lot of resources and would aid in understanding.
On the other hand, it can bias the school/profs against the individual and they may not see the student in the same light as the other students, especially if they are unfamiliar with autism.
I know one person who disclosed their disability to the college they attended and two years later the program head forced her to discontinue because she was not considered "normal". Is this a singular event or is it more common then we think?
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
